Health Minister AL Hek inspected the nearly-complete Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Umran, Ri-Bhoi, which has been designated by the government as a temporary Corona Care Centre (CCC).
Ri-Bhoi is undergoing a difficult time at the moment, with over 1,400 Covid-19 cases recorded in the district this month.
As of now the district has just one dedicated CCC, which is in Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
Hek was accompanied on the visit by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Director of Health Services Dr Aman Warr, Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah and other officials.
While the hospital building has been completed, the electricity connection, approach road and work on the parking lot has not.
Tata Trusts has, according to Dr Warr, expressed its willingness to provide the hospital with medical equipment. Hek also said that the district administration has taken up the matter of the transformer for power supply and the approach road with the relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, the minister also paid a visit to Nongpoh Civil Hospital to take stock on the performance of the institute in tackling the pandemic.
