Seventy-four cattle that were meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh were rescued by the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya yesterday.
Troops of the 4th and 193rd Battalions of the BSF carried out the operation in the East Khasi Hills border. The seized cattle were handed over to the concerned police station. The exact location of the seizure was not specified in the BSF press release today.
More than 2,500 cattle have been seized by the border force since January in foiled smuggling attempts.
