Shillong, Oct 20: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier will host the national-level ‘Meghalaya Marathon 2026: Run Above The Clouds’ in Shillong on November 18.
Organised in collaboration with Fit India under SPANDAN/SAI, the event will feature two races — a 21-km Half Marathon and a 10-km run—with separate categories and prizes for men and women.
According to BSF Meghalaya, the 21-km race will start at 6 am from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Gate at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU). Runners will pass NEHU Point and descend towards the historic Golf Links loop before returning to finish at the SAI Ground. The route will offer a mix of challenging elevation and Shillong’s pine-covered landscape.
Hydration stations will be set up every two kilometres and all finishers within the cut-off time will receive official finisher medals.
The general registration fee is Rs 500 for the Half Marathon and Rs 400 for the 10-km run.
Free registration will be provided to female runners, students, serving BSF personnel and residents living within 15 km of Meghalaya’s international border. Personnel serving in the Armed Forces, CAPF and State Police will get a 50 per cent concession.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging youth participation and strengthening community engagement in border areas.
Registration will open soon. Participants can register online via the official QR code / BSF registration portal and collect their bibs and race kits from BSF Sector Headquarters, Shillong before race day.
