Shillong, Oct 18: The College of Science and Commerce, Mawphlang celebrated its first-ever College Week 2026 from October 14 to 16 under the theme “A Prelude to Legacy”.
The three-day programme was inaugurated by Principal B Gashnga in presence of teaching, non-teaching staff and students.
The first day featured cultural and literary competitions among four teams – Team Orion, Team Phoenix, Team Maverick and Team Truvanta – including singing, dancing, debate, quiz, extempore speech and cosplay.
The second day was dedicated to sports with track events like 100m, 200m, long jump, relay, besides football and tug of war for both boys and girls.
The final day was observed as Prom Day with the crowning of Mr and Miss College of Science and Commerce, Mawphlang 2026.
Darityngkai Khonghat from Chemistry Department was crowned Miss College 2026, while Marbakordor Sohtun (Chemistry) and Shimtilang Jyrwa (Botany) were adjudged first and second runners-up respectively.
Mebankyrsoi Rynjah from the Mathematics Department was crowned Mr College 2026, with Dawanbhalang Kharhunai (Commerce) and Pyrtashisha Khongsni (Physics) as first and second runners-up.
The college said the event laid a foundation for a new tradition under the theme “A Prelude to Legacy”, promoting unity, creativity and sportsmanship.
