Dr. Kyntiewlang Sanmiet, Spokesperson of Bethany Hospital has lodged an FIR against unauthorised use of his photographs in a matrimonial platform.
As per the complaint lodged with the Laitumkhrah police his photograph was used under a fake profile in BharatMatrimony.
“The profile, listed under the name ‘Dr. Bibhan B.’ uses my photograph. I do not personally know the individual who alerted me, but I appreciate her notification. This fraudulent profile has been created without my knowledge or consent, and I suspect it could be used for malicious purposes, including identity theft, fraud, or defamation of character,” Dr Sanmiet said.
He has also urged police to take prompt action to investigate and identify the person(s) behind the fraudulent activity, ensure the removal of the fake profile from BharatMatrimony, and initiate appropriate legal proceedings against the perpetrator(s).
BharatMatrimony, India’s leading matrimony platform has been facing backlash when a blogger from Mumbai claimed that a photo appeared on its elite subscription service under a fake profile last month.
