Implementation of the New Education Policy requires time, effort and a lot of investment in different aspects.
This was stated by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma at a national workshop held in Shillong College today. He said, “A just transition is a concept that is precisely meant for these kinds of processes where you can’t expect things to happen in a day but there are a few things that we all need to prioritize as a government and as a society to make better, productive citizens and society and that should drive us to move forward in spite of the changes.”
He added that the education policy stresses on research, cognitive and critical thinking, vocational training, innovation, entrepreneurship sports and extra-curricular activities, which is a paradigm shift of how education has been in the past. All these aspects in the new policy are important, he added.
The chief minister further said that the workshop will help in realizing the visions and aims of new NEP and prepare a road map not only for Shillong College but other colleges also in realizing its goals and principles.
The two-day national workshop on, ‘Translating Vision into Action NEP 2022: An Implementation Perspective’ is being organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Shillong College.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new building block, the college auditorium and the lift that are all partially funded by RUSA.
