The Meghalaya Truck Owners’ and Suppliers’ Association (MTOSA) has expressed shock over the “disappearance” of five businessmen who got challan to transport the coal auctioned by Coal India Limited.
MTSOA said that the disappearance of the five businessmen has caused difficulty to coal traders as they could not sell the remaining assessed mineral till date.
The five businessmen who received challans from the District Mineral Officer, Jaiñtia Hills included Heading Sutnga (1100 tons), Ready Sutnga (16,480 tons), Dominic Myrthong (3510 tons), K Kharkongor (3850 tons) and Taiphor War Dkhar (28,840 tons).
According to MTSOA president Balen Thubru, the disappearance of the five businessmen who got challans to lift the auctioned coal has put coal traders in a fix as they could not sell the assessed coal as per the directives of the Supreme Court.
A delegation of MTOSA led by Thubru today met the District Mineral Officer, Jaiñtia Hills to discuss the matter.
However, the District Mineral Officer said that he was helpless since the five businessmen had already paid for the coal challan about three months back.
The MTOSA has requested the five businessmen to come forward and lift the auctioned coal as per the guidelines of Coal India Limited so that the remaining assessed coal in other depots could be auctioned.
Meanwhile, Thubru said that transportation of auctioned coal has already started in Borsora and Garo Hills whereas the same is yet to kick start in Jaiñtia Hills due to the disappearance of the five businessmen who were issued with challans to transport the auctioned coal.
