Shillong Market in association with E Samudaay, a soft service provider has launched a digital marketplace in the city today by East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh.
The aim is to build networks of independent, self-sustained digital local marketplaces, managed by local entrepreneurs, which in turn helps create and retain value within the local community, a press release said.
These locally owned digital marketplaces will serve communities, spark local production, grassroots innovations and utilize local talent.
The Shillong market esamudaay is pioneered by two women entrepreneurs, Evarihun Warjri and Medarisha Lyngdoh.
“This initiative will give a huge opportunity in taking control of the digital local landscape and provide a ready market for budding entrepreneurs in the State of Meghalaya. It will also bridge local products to the national market and vice versa. The future plan of this venture is also to integrate service and mobility modules in the app,” the release added.
