West Garo Hills District Magistrate, Ram Singh, has passed an order today to allow the movement of commercial, non-commercial and private vehicles on an odd-even basis during the lockdown relaxation time with immediate effect.
Vehicles ending in odd numbers are allowed on the roads on Tuesday and Thursday and the even numbers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
However, no movement of vehicles will be allowed from 2pm to 5am and Saturdays and Sundays will remain closed for all automobiles, the order said.
Meanwhile, containment measures in the district have also been extended from until 5am of 7 June which included the same restricted activities as in the earlier order and the permitted activities like opening of essential commodities shops from Monday to Friday from 8am to 1pm, construction activities with strict Covid protocols, opening of hotels and eateries on take away basis, courier services, movement of persons on government duty, goods vehicles, e-commerce services, accredited and registered press personnel, etc.
Essential commodity shops in Tura Main Bazar area, including Tura Supermarket, can open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am to 1pm. Wholesalers, however, can open on the same days from 5am to 1pm.
The opening of non-essential shops, including hardware, electrical, plumbing and sanitary ware, computers service centres, mobile repairing and automobile repairing shops are allowed to open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8am to 1pm.
All fruit and vegetables shops at Tura Supermarket, including the ground floor shops of Nakham Bazar and Kabul, will remain closed with immediate effect and will be accommodated elsewhere by the Tura Municipal Board, which will also arrange a hawker zone outside the Main Market on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to operate from 8am to 1pm.
