In view of the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases in the district, particularly in urban Tura, and the non-adherence of physical distancing protocols, the West Garo Hills District Magistrate, Ram Singh, today passed an order to close all vegetable, meat and fish shops in Nakham Bazar, including non-essential shops of Tura Bazar with immediate effect to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus. No hawkers will be allowed to operate either.
The order also directed the CEO of the Tura Municipal Board to coordinate and ensure that vegetable shops are arranged in the various localities.
