The villagers of Mawkyllon, Langdongdai, Mawsmai and Nonghawei Porshken are peeved at the fact that the contractor who constructed a 2.5 kilometre road running through these villages has abandoned it halfway.
Jostik Tyrsa and Blasius Nongsiang of Mawkyllon said that this contractor started work in 2019 but has only finished surfacing around 50 metres.
“The equipment used for the construction of the road has been taken away. What’s left is the stone crusher, which is in a rundown condition and is of no more use,” they said.
Tyrsa said that the deadline for the project is nearing and if work does not restart soon the contractor will be unable to finish it on time.
According to the villagers, this particular road is of utmost importance to the villagers of the area since they use it to travel to Riangdo, the headquarters of Mawshynrut civil subdivision, for official and personal work.
