The 70th All India Cooperative Week is being celebrated at Moosyiem, Shangpung, West Jaintia Hills.
Cooperation Department Minister Comingone Ymbon today inaugurated the event, which is being held on the theme ‘Role of Cooperative Marketing India a 5 trillion Dollar Economy and Sustainable Development Goals”, and which is being organised by the Cooperation Department in collaboration with the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank and Rural Finance and Meghalaya Livelihoods and Access to Markets Projects (Megha-LAMP), Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA).
The topic of the day was ‘Recent Development in Cooperatives.’
Addressing the gathering, Ymbon highlighted the importance of strengthening the cooperative movement’s collective growth. He encouraged members to dedicate themselves in implementing government projects in a proper way, emphasising a shift towards entrepreneurship. He also urged the parents and job seeking youths to shift their focus from government jobs to fostering entrepreneurship.
The minister also reminded the gathering of the recently launched CM-Elevate, where interested entrepreneurs can apply for different schemes that would promote tourism, agriculture, entertainment and other social sectors.
Additional Deputy Commissioner WK Kharbuli and Registrar of Cooperative Societies RC Sohkhlet were among the others present on the occasion.
