In an incident that does not always make its way into the press, the Border Security Force (BSF) informed today that the Commandant of its 200th Battalion, Raj Narayan Mishra, lost his way in a jungle before being tracked down with the help of local villagers.
It was at around 10:30am yesterday that Mishra, while he was on an area familiarization recce of the thick forest of West Garo Hills, was separated from the main body of the team.
Considering the factors of fading sunlight and dense jungle, a joint operation consisting of BSF personnel, local villagers, Forest Department and local police officials was launched and the officer was tracked down.
