Continuing with their campaign against illegal drugs in Meghalaya, East Jaiñtia Hills police today arrested two men and seized 2000 banned Yaba (a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine) tablets today.
Based on credible source information that a person is transporting illegal contrabands from Assam to Shillong, the ANTF along with Khliehriat Traffic personnel had conducted a check at 1 am this morning.
The vehicle was detected and checked. Police recovered the banned drug weighing 191.88 grams from one Sumit Kumar Sinha of New Majai, Bholaganj in East Khasi Hills.
Police said another accused, Rabindra Deka of Marigaon in Assam, was also arrested in connection with the case.
The recovered illegal contraband, along with two mobile phones, were also seized
A criminal case under the NDPS Act has been initiated against the duo.
