Youth across the country are being mobilised to enroll as MY Bharat civil defence volunteers and East Khasi Hills is being targeted as part of this effort.
MY Bharat is an initiative under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. This nationwide call is part of a concerted effort to empower young citizens to take up vital roles in the national cause, particularly during emergencies and crises, a press release stated today. The initiative aims to build a well-trained, responsive and resilient volunteer force that can complement civil administration in times of natural disasters, accidents, public emergencies and other unforeseen situations.
In view of the current scenario and emerging security concerns, there is an urgent and growing need to establish a robust, community-based response mechanism. Civil defence volunteers play a critical role in this regard by supporting local authorities through a wide range of services. These include rescue and evacuation operations, first aid and emergency care, traffic management, crowd control, public safety and assisting in disaster response and rehabilitation efforts.
MY Bharat therefore appeals to enthusiastic young citizens to step forward and register as civil defence volunteers. Both existing MY Bharat volunteers and new individuals who wish to serve the nation in this capacity are welcome to join.
The registration process can be accessed through the official MY Bharat portal on mybharat.gov.in and more information can be obtained from the MY Bharat district youth officer on 9588221032.
