Shillong, Oct 11: The World Mental Health Week 2025 culminated in South West Garo Hills with a comprehensive awareness program held at Salmanpara. The event, themed “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes & Emergencies,” aimed to promote mental health awareness and highlight available services in the district.
Speakers at the program included Psychiatric Social Worker Canius N. Sangma, Psychologist Lenibell Dokatchi B Marak, District Mission Coordinator S. Jakrime R. Marak, and District Nodal Officer Dr. Amit Hajong. The event featured insightful talks, an outreach program, and a free health check-up camp.
Earlier, student-focused activities such as quiz, essay writing, and painting competitions were conducted at the Adolescent Health Resource Centre, Chengkompara, engaging nearly 100 students from schools across Ampati. The students showcased their understanding of mental well-being through creative and intellectual activities.
The program was organized under the aegis of the District Mental Health Program (DMHP) and led by District Nodal Officer Dr. L.C Matgrik. Various district-level health units and services, including the Adolescent Friendly Health Centre (AFHC) of Ampati Civil Hospital, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), and One-Stop Centre (OSC), supported the event.
