Shillong, Oct 13: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), Jowai Circle has urged Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla to set up an examination centre in Jowai for the Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board (MMSRB) Staff Nurse and ANM recruitment tests slated for November 7.
In a memorandum to the minister, JSU said holding the exams only in Shillong and Tura forces candidates from Jaintia Hills to travel long distances and incur extra expenditure on transport and accommodation.
The union noted that Jowai already hosts national-level exams like NEET and has adequate capacity to conduct computer-based tests (CBT), as discussed with the Directorate of Health Services and Medical Education.
The JSU sought the minister’s intervention to include Jowai as a centre for the November 7 exams and all future MMSRB recruitment tests, and to upgrade infrastructure and tie up with technology providers if required, so that local candidates are not burdened due to their location.
