West Jaiñtia Hills unit of the Khasi Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union today submitted a representation to the office of the WJH District Medical and Health Officer urging for the payment of pending dues before major religious celebrations.
President of the ASHA Workers Union’s local unit, F Timung, said that her colleagues have been providing a full service to others despite a delay of five months in the payment of their dues and over a year for the ASHA benefit scheme.
Stating that ASHAs need to buy books, clothes and rations to feed their children, Timung said, “We request the government to kindly clear our pending dues, that is the ASHA benefits scheme, fixed incentive and monthly incentive before any major religious celebration, so the ASHA workers can also feed and bring joy to their children and family during the auspicious festival like Behdieñkhlam, Durga Puja and Christmas.”
