Shillong, Aug 23: The Autumn Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will begin on Monday.
The five-day sitting, which will end on August 28, will feature three days allocated for government business and two days for private members’ business.
Several bills will be introduced on the first day, namely the Meghalaya Forest Authority (Amendment) Bill 2026, Meghalaya Money Lenders and Accredited Loan Providers’ Bill 2026, Meghalaya Right to Public Services (Amendment) Bill 2026, Meghalaya Official Language Bill 2026 along with bills concerning different private universities – International Open University, Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian University, Sister Nivedita University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Martin Luther Christian University and Maharashtra Institute of Technology University of Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will also present the Supplementary Demands for Grants and Supplementary Appropriation for 2026-2027.
