Two top performing Gram Panchayats on Swachh Survekshan Gramin 2023 were felicitated by South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Tableland Lyngwa yesterday.
The Gram Panchayats from Nonglang and Langtor villages in the district were felicitated for their diligent efforts in upholding cleanliness within their respective villages.
Addressing the gathering, Lyngwa emphasized that the main objective of Swachh Survekshan Gramin is to promote active involvement from citizens and raise awareness on the significance of cleanliness and sanitation. He also stressed the necessity for a shift in people’s mindset, advocating for the adoption of clean habits, proper waste disposal practices within homes and localities, and refraining from littering in public spaces.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged the public to recycle waste materials by converting into valuable products that can be utilized for various purposes. He also said the two villages will set an example and encourage active collaboration among residents to improve cleanliness and sanitation throughout the district.
