Local taxi drivers has urged the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to regulate non-tribal taxi drivers from outside the state, who according to them, are plying without valid document and labour licence.
The taxi drivers, from both urban and rural areas, today met with the KHADC executive member in charge of Labour, Winston Tony Lyngdoh with the demand.
Speaking to reporters S Rynjah said Lyngdoh has assured them to look into the matter. He said that they are hopeful that the new Executive Committee will take up the matter even as they reminded that the former NPP-led EC in the KHADC has only once conducted a checking of documents, but at present, the problem has resurfaced.
