A village under the constituency of Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal is without power.
According to residents of Bangalkata village in Phulbari constituency, they have been living in darkness for the past two weeks due to an electricity outage.
“For the past 13 days, our village has been without power, causing significant disruption to our daily lives,” said Tauqer Hassan, a resident of Bangalkata in a statement sent to Highland Post today.
“Despite repeated appeals to the local authorities, no substantial action has been taken to resolve this issue,” Hassan added.
He also said that the electricity outage has severely impacted various aspects of people’s lives including education, healthcare, agriculture and others.
“This is the time of half-yearly examinations for school and students are finding it extremely difficult to study without proper lighting. The lack of electricity is hindering their preparation, which could adversely affect their academic performance,” Hassan said.
He also said that due to absence of electricity the local health centre is unable to function effectively, putting the health and lives of villagers at risk.
Further, he mentioned that farmers are facing difficulties in irrigating their fields, which could lead to crop failure and subsequent financial losses.
Hassan also said that lack of electricity has disrupted basic activities, including food preservation and communication, leading to a decline in the quality of life.
