Devusinh Chauhan, Union Minister of State for Communications, undertook an official visit to Ri-Bhoi today to review the aspirational district programme.
Ri-Bhoi is one of more than 100 aspirational districts in the country that are being targeted with extra efforts to improve their socio-economic status.
The review meeting brought together key stakeholders involved in various developmental projects aimed at elevating the district. Attendees included Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Arpit Upadhyaya, Superintendent of Police Giri Prasad, other senior civil servants and Chauhan’s team.
District officials presented progress reports on diverse key indicators, including health and nutrition, education, agriculture-horticulture, veterinary services, rural development and water resources. Upadhyaya delivered detailed presentations on the advancements made under the aspirational district programme.
Chauhan said that the central government is committed to uplift underdeveloped regions across India, with Ri-Bhoi District being one of the beneficiaries of this programme that was initiated in 2018. He further disclosed the launch of an additional programme aimed at enhancing governance at the block level to improve the quality of life for citizens. This initiative will be assessed for its effectiveness after one year of implementation.
The junior minister called upon all government officials to sustain their dedication and hard work towards the welfare of the people. He emphasised the importance of fully implementing central schemes to ensure sustainable and comprehensive development for all citizens.
Chauhan also conducted inspections at various critical facilities, including the Nongpoh Civil Hospital, the Health and Wellness Centre in Umsawnongkharai, the Anganwadi Centre and Integrated Village Cooperative Society (IVCS) in Umdihar village.
