A six-day short term course for academic administrators was organised by the HRDC-NEHU, Shillong today.
43 participants registered for the programme and included 19 from NEHU and 24 from other universities and colleges of the country.
The programme was inaugurated by NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shukla who in his address said that the role of the academic administrators is to develop and coordinate student programmes, planning, fund raising, maintenance of the financial flow, infrastructure, research administration and that all departments should have a vision for overall development of the university.
Prof. Shukla lauded the effort of the Director in-charge HRDC-NEHU for organising the programme and said such programmes would continue in future for professional development.
Director in-charge HRDC-NEHU Prof. S Rama Rao in his welcome address said that the university has a major responsibility in higher education to administer and benefit the students in particular and the society as a whole and that administration is the main component.
“In order to achieve this, the institution has to strengthen the administrative staff by providing training to update their skills and to bring about a quality change in their professional life,” Prof. Rao said.
He also urged the participants to take full benefit of this training and become effective staff of their respective institutions.
