In a spirited celebration of 75 years of dedicated service to the nation, the Territorial Army commemorated its Platinum Jubilee by organizing a ‘Run For Fun’ today that brought together its troops and locals.
The event showcased the unity, fitness, and indomitable spirit of the Territorial Army and the communities it serves.
The cross-country run covered 10 kms for men, 5 kms for women and 1.5 km for children, which began from the 119 Territorial Army campus at Kenches Trace and through the scenic routes, engaging participants from diverse backgrounds.
The event was a celebration of the deep-rooted connection between the Territorial Army and the local communities, reinforcing the bond of trust and cooperation that has been nurtured over decades.
The event promoted physical fitness and well-being, with participants of all ages joining in to emphasise the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
As the Territorial Army marks its Platinum Jubilee, this event was a fitting tribute to the Army’s unwavering service to the nation, underscoring its role in safeguarding the country while staying connected to the people it serves.
Speaking at the event, Colonel Devashis Naik emphasised the importance of such events in building bridges between the Armed Forces and local communities. “This run is a symbol of our unity, resilience, and shared commitment to the nation. We are proud to celebrate our Platinum Jubilee with the very people we protect and serve,” he said.
The Territorial Army, established in 1949, has played a pivotal role in supporting the nation’s security while also contributing to disaster relief, environmental conservation, and social welfare activities.
The event concluded with a medal distribution ceremony, where participants were recognized for their enthusiasm and dedication.
