The official programme today was attended by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Archana Chitnis MLA from Madhya Pradesh and Atul Jain, general secretary of the Deen Dayal Research Institute.
Sangma also inaugurated the ‘Cultural & Textile Exhibitions’, showcasing traditional handloom fabrics, indigenous weaves and eco-friendly fibre products from across the North East.
Addressing the occasion as the chief guest, the CM noted that the event provides a platform for artisans and weavers to showcase their talents while recognising their hard work and the challenges they face in turning their craft into reality.
“This is a special initiative that enriches our traditions by preserving and promoting textile heritage. Through their work, artisans and weavers not only earn their livelihood but also carry forward the identity of our people to future generations, reflecting our culture, history and heritage,” Sangma said.
