An aspiring student of Charbatapara, West Garo Hills, has requested the Meghalaya government to consider setting up a school in the village in order to relieve the strain of youngsters looking for an education.
Eleast Azad said that youths from his village and nearby Haribhanga and Moulakandi have no higher or higher secondary school. The nearest ones are in Phulbari, some 6-7km away and these are not connected to Charbatapara via public transport, at least not during school hours.
This situation has put off many youngsters, Azad added in his letter today.
