Shillong, Sep 21: A group of miscreants allegedly attacked several Guwahati-Mankachar night super buses at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills around 2 am on Sunday.
The attackers pelted stones at the moving buses, damaging windshields and injuring a few drivers, triggering panic among passengers.
According to passengers, about 10 to 12 people were involved and the attack may have been an attempt to stop the buses for robbery. Police said the motive is still under investigation.
After the incident, the drivers drove to Tikrikilla police station and lodged a complaint. Police teams rushed to the area but the miscreants had fled.
The buses resumed their journey towards Mankachar after a delay of about two hours with police security.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which has raised fresh concerns over night-time passenger safety on the route.
