Resubelpara C&RD Block under North Garo Hills district today launched the NITI Aayog’s Sampoornata Abhiyan under Aspirational Blocks Programme at Manikganj Bakra, Resubelpara.
Resubelpara C&RD block representing Garo Hills in the state is one among the 500 blocks selected from across the country to compete in the Aspirational Blocks programme.
Sampoornata Abhiyan is an initiative of the Government of India to improve the performance and economic development of the under developed blocks. The campaign will run till September 30.
Mendipathar MLA and Adviser to the Power department, Marthon J Sangma who attended the programme as chief guest called for concerted efforts from all major line departments to work in convergence modes and strive to bring about transformation and upliftment in the under performing block.
He said the three-month long campaign will target to accelerate development in under-developed areas of the block. Departments will work in convergence to fulfill the indicators of the aspirational blocks programme, he added.
Sangma reiterated the need for individual support and coordination for the effective implementation of the programme.
Deputy Adviser S&T, NITI Aayog, Dr Thyagaraju BM in his speech said the launching of Sampoornata Abhiyan was in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for “Sabka saath, sabka vikas” by taking on board all stakeholders to improve the indicators under aspirational districts programme and aspirational blocks programme.
He also stressed on collaborative efforts from the government and the people for the overall development of the district as well as that of the block.
BDO of Resubelpara C&RD Block, Verdi Sangna highlighted the objective of the programme wherein she emphasised that the programme aimed to bridge developmental gaps by achieving 100 per cent saturation in six indicators of the aspirational block programme.
She informed the six indicators that needs improvement are health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion, skill development and basic infrastructure.
She also added that various activities and awareness programme will be held across the district involving participation of the concerned departments during the campaign.
