‘Run for Unity’ will be organised from the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on the occasion of National Unity Day to celebrate the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The program will be held on October 31 and will begin at 7 am from Gate No. 5 of NEHU.
A press release here said that spot registration for the run will start from 6:30 am.
The organizers, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Office of the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), and Sports Department, NEHU, have also arranged for Unity Pledge for the teaching, non-teaching and students of the university.
The initiative is being held keeping in line with the nationwide celebrations of the RashtriyaEktaDiwas(National Unity Day)to foster and reinforce the dedication to preserve and strengthen the unity, integrity and security of the country.
NYKS, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is organizing 75,000 Unity Runs across the country during the day. Cycle and motorcycle rallies will also be organized nationwide as part of the celebrations.
