Residents of Lawbyrwa village in Ri-Bhoi have accused their headman of harassment after they began demanding the creation of a new village to be carved out of Lawbyrwa.
Speaking to reporters today, some of the residents said that the headman has been trying to suppress the demand for a separate village. They said that he has lied in maintaining that only half a dozen households are actually in favour of the new village when the real number is around 30.
As further harassment, they alleged that the headman has targeted the households that want a new administration but cutting water pipelines, depriving them of government schemes, etc.
