The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) met with members of the committee tasked with reforming and improving the operations of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) here today.
The committee is chaired by senior civil servant FR Kharkongor and includes other bureaucrats and academics.
The KSU has composed 20 reforms to revamp the MPSC and discussed these with the committee. The pressure group’s suggestions will be included in recommendations to the state government alongside input from other stakeholders.
The KSU also raised concerns about the various recruitment boards established by the state government that lack clear rules and regulations governing job appointments. The organisation questioned the MPSC’s relevance if each department had its own recruitment board.
Additionally, the KSU urged the committee to implement guidelines to ensure reservations for persons with disabilities, promoting equal opportunities in job appointments.
