The Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi, Abhilash Baranwal, officially launched a community interaction programme recently at Jirang block.
The event saw line departments under the leadership of the DC engage with the community and address their concerns.
Organised in line with CM Connect, the programme aims to bring government representatives closer to the people, allowing them to voice their grievances and seek solutions without bureaucratic hurdles.
The event witnessed participation from village representatives, including headmen and members of the public. A total of 26 villages under three Gram Sevak circles were covered during the visit.
Key issues raised during the discussions included concerns related to Animal Husbandry & Veterinary services, road and mobile connectivity, electricity supply, border issues, water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), schools, the Public Distribution System, Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) and healthcare services.
Additionally, village representatives highlighted the need for setting up Village Organisation (VO) offices, improving interior connectivity through footbridges and approach roads and establishing a Fire and Emergency Services Station at Jirang. Baranwal engaged in discussions and took immediate steps to address some of the concerns raised.
A total of 153 individuals attended the event. The DC assured the public that their grievances would be addressed in the best possible manner.
To streamline grievance redressal, a dedicated helpline number, 8131811911, has been launched. Citizens can use this number to lodge complaints related to any department and track updates on their issues without having to visit the office. Additionally, grievances concerning different departments can be submitted at the Block Development Office (BDO), which will forward them to the DC’s office for necessary action.
