A two-day refresher training for grassroot level workers for a comprehensive identification of persons with disabilities will conclude in East Jaiñtia Hills district tomorrow.
Altogether 14 participants that include multi rehabilitation workers and community based rehabilitation workers are taking part in the training organised by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Shillong in collaboration of CRC- Kozhikode, Kerala.
The training comprises of topics related to all kinds of disabilities as per RPWD Act, 2016. It will enable the rehabilitation workers to identify the Persons with Disabilities of East Jaintia Hills district and work for their wellbeing.
Social Welfare Director, D.D. Shira appreciated the initiative and emphasized that such trainings should be conducted more often and for all other districts of the State so as to benefit PWDs.
Shira suggested the CRC officer-in charge, Ram Shakal Sahani to conduct training and awareness programmes for Aaganwadi and Asha workers too.
Larisuk Raplang and Joyfullness Ryntathiang from the State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs mentioned that the training will also enhance the process of issuing Unique Disability ID (UDID) by the State government.
