Yesterday, vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya thwarted a major smuggling attempt along the Indo-Bangladesh border, apprehending one Indian national and seizing four mini trucks loaded with contraband worth Rs 28 lakh in East Khasi Hills.
The seized items included zeera, liquor, tea, fish, dry fish, soap, garlic, panipuri, blankets and other goods intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh.
The apprehended individual, who was not named in today’s BSF press release, and confiscated goods were handed over to Customs authorities for further action.
