Employees of the State-owned Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) have urged the State government to release the one-time special financial package to them within the last week of this month.
It may be noted that the MDA cabinet in its recent meeting had decided to close down the MCCL and permanently wind up the six-decade old cement factory located at Mawmluh, Sohra.
In a letter to the Managing Director of MCCL on December 26, 2024, the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Employees’ Union (MCCEU) reminded about the decision taken at the joint meeting between the management and the union whereby it was agreed that the special industrial closure scheme would be disbursed to the employees within December 2024. However, the financial package is yet to be received by the employees till date.
During the general meeting of the MCCEU held on December 19, 2024, the employees agreed to accept the offer of the State government for a special one-time industrial closure scheme in view of the cabinet’s decision to close down the MCCL. The employees also said that the MCCEU would not be dissolved till the time all the financial liabilities have been cleared by the government.
