Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma today launched the QR code content textbooks (Science and Mathematics) for Secondary schools to aid students seeking self-improvement in the subjects.
Speaking at the function, Sangma praised the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) initiative, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring students in Meghalaya have access to comprehensive educational resources.
“Many schools have zero enrolment, and others have recorded a zero percentage in the SSLC examinations for three consecutive years. Numerous schools are seeing single-digit enrolment, while some have teachers but no students. This ongoing situation is directly related to classroom dynamics,” he said.
The minister said that while Meghalaya has already crossed 50 years, the students’ pass percentage has never exceeded 60-70 per cent. He hoped that the project, though small, will be a significant step towards uplifting the quality of education in the State, especially in the rural areas.
Advisor to the Education Department HM Shangpliang, officials of the department and MBOSE were present on the occasion.
