The workshop, which concluded yesterday, was organised by NEHU’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in collaboration with OM System (formerly Olympus Corporation).
The workshop was designed to equip students and aspiring photographers with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the fields of product and portrait photography, visual storytelling, and photography as an art form. The initiative also aimed to prepare participants for professional roles in journalism, advertising, digital content creation, and documentary filmmaking.
Participants included faculty and students from North East Adventist University, Thomas Jones Synod College Jowai, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong College, and students from various NEHU departments such as History, Tourism, and Geology.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in hands-on learning using professional-grade cameras and lenses provided by OM System.
The sessions were led by industry experts: Ravendra Pal, Product Manager at OM System, provided foundational training in imaging technologies; Arihant Mukhedkar, a renowned fashion and advertising photographer, led sessions on lighting, composition, and creative storytelling; Sudipta Chakraborty, an acclaimed wildlife photographer, shared techniques on capturing impactful images of the natural world.
