As part of the celebrations commemorating 110 years since the establishment of the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), the North Eastern Regional Centre (NERC), ZSI, Shillong, conducted the regional level screening of the 110-hour Hackathon at its centre.
Themed, ‘Northeast Biodiversity’, the Hackathon aimed to inspire and showcase innovative, technology-driven solutions addressing biodiversity challenges specific to the North-Eastern region of India.
Despite more than ten participants registering from various parts of the country, the timing of college and university examinations limited actual participation. Ultimately, a single dedicated team from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, led by Assistant Professor, Dr. Damanbha Lyngdoh, actively took part in the event and presented thoughtful ideas on biodiversity conservation.
A distinguished panel of five experts evaluated the team’s presentation. Participation certificates were awarded in recognition of their effort and contribution.
The panel included external members such as Dr. Krishna Upadhaya from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary from Lady Keane College, alongside experts from ZSI.
The selection of teams for the national round of the Hackathon will be based on the marks scored by different teams across the 16 regional centres of ZSI where similar screening events are being held.
