The pillion rider on a motorcycle died in a head-on collision with a local taxi in Mawkyrwat today afternoon.
The incident took place at around 2:30pm when the black Pulsar bike (ML 05 E 7511) collided with the taxi (ML 12 2962) near the Mawkyrwat community health centre.
The bike was being ridden by Ialambok Lyngdoh (age unknown) of Mawlangwir and the pillion rider was Shemphanglin Lyngdoh (23), also of Mawlangwir. Shemphanglin died on the spot due to his severe injuries, while Ialambok was taken to the nearby health centre for treatment.
The taxi was being driven by Jonalin Wartde (23) of Pyndensakwang. Police are conducting further inquiries.
