More than 12,000 people have signed up for the Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) Meghalaya Youth Empowerment (MYE) scheme, which was launched last week, the party claims.
Under the scheme, the party promises that unemployed youth will receive Rs 1,000 per month as a direct cash transfer if the TMC comes to power at the upcoming state election. Rs 1,000 has also been promised to one woman from each household by the TMC under a separate scheme, which has also received several thousand people register for.
The party highlighted the 12,000 MYE figure today in a tweet.
“While MDA Govt neglected the YOUTH, we shall UPLIFT them! Our #MYECard assures – Creation of 3 Lakh jobs over the next 5 years and Allowance of Rs 1,000 monthly (Rs 12,000 yearly) to unemployed youth between the ages of 21-40 years,” the party said.
The TMC claimed at the time of the MYE launch that 37 percent of youths in Meghalaya are not “active workers”.
