One more Covid-19 fatality was recorded in East Khasi Hills today, taking the death toll in the district to 113.
The deceased was identified as Anita Blah (74) of Nongshiliang area of Malki here.
She was admitted to Woodland Hospital on December 24 and tested positive there before passing away yesterday morning. The cause of death was lung carcinoma with Covid-19.
There have now been 28 Covid-related deaths in the State this month.
Meanwhile, 21 new infections were reported today along with 19 recoveries.
Of the new cases, East Khasi Hills accounted for 16, West Garo Hills three, South West Garo Hills one and West Jaintia Hills one.
Ten new recoveries were reported in East Khasi Hills, four in Ri-Bhoi, three in West Garo Hills and one each in North Garo Hills and South Garo Hills. The latter is now the only district not to have any active Covid-19 cases.
In all, Meghalaya has had 13,408 Covid-19 cases, of which 184 are active, 13,085 have recovered and 139 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has fallen slightly to 97.59 percent. The fatality rate has increased to 1.04 percent.
The Health Department also informed that around 1,550 Covid tests were carried out in the last 24 hours.
