After almost two years without a break, night curfew, imposed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, was scrapped today in East Khasi Hills.
This was announced by the District Magistrate in keeping with the recent directive of the state government.
As part of the notification, two-wheelers have been exempted from the odd-even rule that applies to private vehicles. Shops will also be allowed to open on Sundays.
Only fully vaccinated people are allowed to enter cinemas, restaurants, bars and clubs, with the onus on proprietors to check this. Weddings, public gatherings and events are allowed subject to permission from the Deputy Commissioner.
