The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) has cancelled the contract with ARSS Infrastructure Projects Ltd, a company that was implementing Package II of the Shillong-Dawki Road Project, from Mylliem till Pynursla.
The termination of the contract was after the accident following the landslide that claimed two lives in Rngain.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (roads) told reporters after a meeting held today, that the contract was terminated and the NHIDCL will follow up the progress of the work.
“I was informed that the NHIDCL has cancelled the contract with the ARSS due to poor progress of work,” he said.
Tynsong said the NHIDCL will now prepare an action plan to prevent the recurrence of landslide at Rngain along the Shillong-Dawki road.
Tynsong said the landslide prone area was discussed and they have identified areas that are dangerous with the coming of the monsoons.
“We already discussed all the details. The technical people from the NHIDCL will prepare an action plan on how to go about it and to make sure a dedicated team for any emergency work is there 24×7,” he said.
Package-I, package-4 and package 5 were also discussed in the meeting.The government has asked the NHIDCL start the retendering process for these packages of the Shillong-Dawki road.
