A total of six candidates for the MDC election to Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on Wednesday registered their nomination papers at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District.
The six candidates include three candidates from the National People’s Party (NPP), Rudai Tang from Shilliang Myntang-11, Reformson Lamare from Nartiang Wahiajer and Jesse Suiam from Moodymmai Nongkhroh.
From the Congress Rikut Parein who will contest from Saphai Sahsniang filed his nomination papers, from the Voice of the People Party (VPP), Laiawanlam Jinghun Khynriam filed his nomination from Mynsoo Nongjngi and independent candidate Wendolin Chullai filed his papers from Mukhla Ummulong.
After the filing of nomination papers, these candidates while speaking to the media expressed their happiness to contest this election with the strong hope that they will win the MDC election to JHADC.
They also said that if they win, they will work hard to improve the working of the District Council and to implement the development schemes within their respective constituencies and other priority needs.
The last date for filing of nominations is February 3 and the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on the same date. The date for withdrawal of nominations has been scheduled on February 4.
