The permanent court building of the District and Sessions Court in Mawkyrwat was inaugurated today by the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, Biswanath Somadder.
Chief Justice Somadder, in a speech, appreciated the concerted efforts of all those involved in completing the structure in “record time”. With the court in place, he hoped that the people of South West Khasi Hills would have easier access to justice.
Also present was Law Minister James PK Sangma, who said that the new court building would remind the public that justice is only a stone’s throw away.
Others at the gathering included Mawkyrwat MLA and cabinet minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Justice RV More, Justice HS Thangkhiew and Justice W Diengdoh.
