Shillong, Nov 5: Na Rympei Football Academy, Pay For Right Football Academy and Jakrem SC booked their places in the semifinals of the inaugural Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 by winning their respective quarterfinals at the SSA Stadium, Polo, here today.

The fourth team in the semis, Laitkor SC (of the Shillong Sports Association) won their quarterfinal fixture yesterday 10-1 against Mawten SC (Mawkyrwat District Sports Association).

Na Rympei (Ri-Bhoi DSA) won 8-1 today morning against Bright Future SSCC (Pyndengumiong DSA), while Jakrem (Mawkyrwat DSA) were 4-1 victors over Diengshynrum SC (East Jaintia Hills District Football Association) in the evening under floodlights.

It was the second match of the day that was the closest of the lot and which PFR (Shillong SA) won 3-2 in extra time against Mawlum Tyrsad SC (Tyrsad Area SA) in a fantastically competitive fixture.

The two sides were very evenly matched and it required until the 75th minute before Lisha Khongsit found the back of the net for Mawlum Tyrsad, who were the winners of Group B. However, less than 10 minutes later, Ridalin Suting (84′), the eventual Player of the Match, equalised for PFR, who were runners-up in Group A.

That took the game to extra time where Nisilia Majaw (98′) gave the lead to PFR before Balawanbiang Khongsit (105′) pulled Mawlum Tyrsad level. A final goal by Ridalin (111′), however, proved to be the winner, sending PFR to the last-four.

Earlier, Pynhun Shulet (3′, 28′, 46′, 50′, 72′, 90’+2) scored half a dozen goals in Na Rympei’s victory over Bright Future. Streamlet Taro (9′) and Tracy Rympei (78′) were Na Rympei’s other scorers, while Blessiful Thongni (68′) was credited with Bright Future’s lone goal. Both Na Rympei and Bright Future had finished third in Group A and Group B respectively.

Finally, Diengshynrum, winners of Group C, looked to challenge Jakrem, runners-up in Group B, and did so on occasion but it was Jakrem who sailed through 4-1. A couple of early goals from Sunalinda Iawren (4′) and Iaphisha Marbaniang (12′) set the tone and Bahunlang Synrem (32′) gave Jakrem a 3-0 lead going into the break. Charlinda Nongtdu pulled one back for Diengshynrum by tapping in a cross in the 72nd minute but Catherine Kharkongor (83′) restored the three-goal margin, which Jakrem held until the final whistle.

The semifinals will both be held on Saturday at 10am. Laitkor will face Jakrem at the SSA Stadium, while Na Rympei will go up against PFR at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) ground at NEHU.
