Martin Luther Christian University organised a workshop on “Autism Spectrum Disorder” here yesterday.
The resource person, Dr. Suhas Chandran, Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore spoke on how accessibility to reliable information could increase the likelihood of early childhood screening, diagnosis, timely support and intervention.
The awareness created through the workshop helped to clear stereotypes and misunderstandings, and served as a form of emotional support for parents and caregivers. With greater advocacy amongst the public, there is hope that it will lead to acceptance.
