Shillong, Aug 24: The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of police seeking an FIR against a Facebook account for allegedly linking it to a recent violence during the KSU rally.
In its complaint, president Pyndap Thabah and working president Arkodius Syiemlieh said an account named ‘Satar_Ba_Pawnam’ posted in the group ‘Ka Lympung ki Khun Ka Ri’, alleging that HITO and KSU were involved in anti-outsider activities.
HITO called the post false, baseless and malicious, clarifying it had not participated in or organised any rally by any other organisation during the period.
It said the account appears fake and was aimed at defaming HITO, misleading the public and creating conflict between organisations.
The group urged police to book the operator under defamation and cybercrime provisions, trace the account through IP logs and preserve electronic evidence. It has submitted screenshots of the post.
