Shillong, Oct 13: Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, will host the 1st Open North-East 5×5 School and Club Basketball Tournament 2025 from October 24 to 26.
A first-of-its-kind initiative in the region, the tournament aims to bring together the best of school and club-level talent under one roof, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship, competition and youth empowerment.
The three-day event is expected to draw teams from across Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Sikkim. Players from different states will compete across four competitive categories — Inter-School Under-19 Boys, Inter-School Under-19 Girls, Club Open (Men), and Club Open (Women) — with each match following the globally recognised 5×5 format. The championship not only aims to provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their skills but also aspires to set new benchmarks in regional sports infrastructure and talent development.
